“The Benzodiazepine Medical Disaster is a crime.” Guest Post by Barry Haslam.

“What has happened to so many in the benzo community is a “crime”. It has moved on from medical negligence and is now in the criminality realm. There has been hard documentary evidence of the harm that these drugs cause for decades and yet the medical profession has chosen to ignore this evidence. Guidelines have been breached, Human Rights have been breached and patients left in a mess with far too fast withdrawals and the requests for dedicated withdrawal centres completely ignored. This issue needs to be in a Court of Law”.

  1. I agree with Barry. Surely it must be a crime to rob people of their entire lives. I have lost over 40 years to these drugs, living a “half-life”, yet consulting with so many doctors over the years on a regular basis and not one doctor realised that all my symptoms were attributable to the drug they were prescribing. This is surely criminal ignorance or wilful neglect. The adverse effects of these drugs have been known for decades. If a doctor had openly discussed with me the risks of these drugs and I had chosen to continue taking them, then it would have been my responsibility. That did not happen. I would like to know why this is seemed acceptable.
